A Scalable Digital System for EPIC’s Global Community

For more than a decade, Pow has partnered with EPIC—the leading international conference on ethnography in business—to design and maintain digital platforms that support a global community of researchers, practitioners, and industry leaders.

Our work began in 2014 with the design of EPIC’s conference website and later expanded to include their core organizational site, epicpeople.org. Since then, Pow has delivered annual conference websites that reflect each year’s theme while preserving a consistent, accessible structure familiar to returning participants.

Over time, this collaboration evolved into a reusable design and development framework built on WordPress. The system allows EPIC’s internal team to efficiently update content, manage programs, and adapt each year’s site without requiring coding expertise. When custom solutions are needed, Pow also provides front-end development to ensure accurate and reliable implementation.

For the 2026 conference theme, Context, Pow designed the digital experience to support EPIC’s focus on how context is defined, modeled, and applied across complex social and technological environments. The platform highlights conference programs, research, and community resources such as the EPIC Library, tutorials, courses, and member events, helping participants engage with the theme in both structured and exploratory ways. This approach reinforces EPIC’s examination of humanist and computational perspectives on context while continuing to support the organization’s long-term digital needs.

This work provides EPIC with a durable digital foundation—one that scales with the organization, streamlines yearly updates, and supports continuity across conferences and initiatives.
